Position: ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN with Security Clearance
Location: Maxwell

Duties
* Plans, organizes, and performs maintenance of highly specialized broadcast quality color television equipment, video systems, and support equipment.
* Provides technical assistance to the Engineering branch team with the selection of equipment to meet systems requirements.
* Ensures quality workmanship is a part of all engineering aspects including scanning, sync and pulse, satellite, and radio frequency transmission, balanced audio and video color camera systems and distribution networks.
* Serves as the engineering Branch expert in the design, layout, and installation of television systems and custom video, audio, and distance learning systems to meet a wide variety of applications.
* Serves as the computer-based design system operator for AUTV. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Work is normally performed in an office and repair shop environment.
* Work in the electronics workshop involves the lifting of equipment, approximately 40 pounds.
* Stooping, bending, stretching, and walking will be encountered and good eyesight is necessary.
* Cannot be colorblind.
* Possibility of electric shock exists when working on equipment.
* Working in cramped places is required.
* Tension and stress are encountered while keeping television equipment fully operational to meet deadlines.
* May deploy to sites to review engineering concepts and study equipment layout.
* May require travel by military or commercial aircraft.
* Position will require a physical. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment.

This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment.

OR

EDUCATION:

Two full years of graduate education with successful completion of (a) a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology.

EDUCATION:

3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) curriculum in electronics, or (c) a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics, and at least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE:

Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.…
