KeyDuties & Responsibilities
This position is for a Manufacturing Engineering Associate Manager based in Courtland, AL, supporting electro/mech structure assembly, integration and test operations on a weekend first shift. The role may require some travel to other manufacturing operations.
- Lead the technical team daily to meet engineering requirements, schedule and cost commitments, and report production status to leadership.
- Supervise manufacturing engineers, recruit and train personnel, assess performance, and assign engineering tasks.
- Provide shop‑floor support, maintain manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, and engineering change implementations within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility.
- Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
- Create procedures for fabricating tools and equipment that affect product performance.
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions, incorporating inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspect machinery, equipment and tools for efficiency, investigate problems, and initiate corrective actions to ensure product quality.
- Develop processes applicable to statistical process control and related techniques.
- Guide engineering on design concepts and specification requirements to utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques effectively.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory processes and procedures.
- Communicate with inter‑organizational and outside customer contacts to provide solutions to technical problems.
- Manufacturing experience in assembly, integration, and/or test operations.
- Experience leading a technical team in a manufacturing factory environment.
- Ability to work the weekend shift (Thursday - Sunday).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Interim Secret clearance required prior to start.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Formal or informal leadership experience.
- Experience presenting to senior government and/or Lockheed Martin leaders.
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry‑equivalent processes (Earn Value Management Systems, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Routings, Production Orders, Bill of Materials, Qnotes, FFMEAs, FOE/FOD, etc.).
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry‑equivalent tools (ERP/SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP Database, etc.).
- Lean Manufacturing experience and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications.
- Experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Ordnance Missile Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) operations.
- Proven leadership and management of aerospace and manufacturing products.
- Proven communication skills between Program, Engineering and Manufacturing.
- Proven production flow troubleshooting skills.
- Basic tooling, fixture and equipment design experience.
- Basic knowledge of Additive Manufacturing CAD/CAM and 3D Printing.
- Ability to work independently with little to no direction.
This position requires a U.S. Citizen for consideration: a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level (interim Clearance required prior to start).
