Aircraft Avionics Technician – MH‑139 Grey Wolf Helicopter Maintenance

Maxwell AFB, AL

$36.41 – $44.57 per hour

We are hiring an Aircraft Avionics Technician – MH‑139 Grey Wolf Helicopter Maintenance to support U.S. Air Force Reserve operations by maintaining and troubleshooting MH‑139 Grey Wolf helicopters. This position is ideal for candidates with military avionics experience, helicopter maintenance expertise, and a background in aircraft weapons systems, electronic systems, configuration management, testing, and repair within a defense aviation environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, inspection, modification, and testing of integrated aircraft avionics, conventional weapons systems, fire control systems, electro‑mechanical components, electro‑environmental systems, and associated subassemblies.
  • Remove, install, configure, and validate avionics, bomb navigation systems, weapons control systems, launch and suspension assemblies, and related aircraft components.
  • Conduct operational, functional, electrical, mechanical, pre‑test, and final acceptance testing on aircraft systems and support equipment.
  • Assemble, disassemble, modify, and upgrade aerospace vehicle systems and components to correct deficiencies or implement engineering changes.
  • Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to isolate faults and restore aircraft to operational status.
  • Configure aircraft systems and bench test equipment to support mission requirements and maintenance activities.
  • Perform validation and verification testing to ensure aircraft systems meet operational and flight worthiness standards.
  • Inspect completed repairs and modifications for compliance with maintenance procedures and airworthiness requirements.
  • Execute aircraft weapons loading, unloading, arming, safing, and explosive handling operations in accordance with applicable technical orders and safety procedures.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, inspection records, test results, modifications, and work control documents while ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain tool accountability, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.
  • Support training activities and provide technical guidance as required.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required if required by program or government regulations.
  • Active Secret Clearance required to start.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of military avionics maintenance experience on military aircraft.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, repairing, configuring, and modifying aircraft avionics and electronic systems.
  • Experience maintaining integrated weapons systems, fire control systems, electro‑mechanical systems, and aircraft electrical components.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience documenting maintenance activities in accordance with military or aerospace maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to perform aircraft maintenance in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Willingness to work rotating or multiple shifts, including future third‑shift assignments.
  • Ability to work onsite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior military helicopter maintenance experience (highly preferred).
  • Experience supporting the MH‑139 Grey Wolf platform.
  • Experience with M240 maintenance.
  • Experience loading chaff and flare countermeasure systems.
  • Experience handling explosive devices, squibs, and pyrotechnics.
  • Working knowledge of IMDS.
  • Familiarity with AFI 21‑101 (or AF 21‑10 as applicable) and TO 00‑20‑1.
  • Previous military service.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP) experience.
