Process Piping Engineer
Join a pioneering team dedicated to advancing high-speed and hypersonic testing technologies. Our organization is focused on developing advanced systems that enhance the quality of flow characteristics and push the boundaries of testing and evaluation for high-speed systems. As a Process Piping Engineer, you will support the process piping and mechanical design from concept through construction, working across locations in Huntsville, AL, and Hollywood, AL.
You will be instrumental in generating, interpreting, and applying structural, thermal, and fluid analysis results to evaluate design options and make informed tradeoffs that align with customer objectives. Your role will involve collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including government customers, and will require a common-sense approach to hardware design.
- Perform engineering tasks related to ASME-code design, fabrication, and construction of high-pressure and high-temperature piping systems.
- Generate, interpret, and apply structural, thermal, and fluid analysis results to evaluate design options.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including government customers, to meet project objectives.
- Design, analyze, and test complex systems.
- Create fabrication and installation drawings using Solid Works.
- Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and collaborate with technicians and machinists.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related engineering field, or 20 years of experience without a degree.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in fluid analysis and piping design.
- Experience with process component selection and process fluid design architecture.
- Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components such as valves, regulators, and high-pressure storage.
- Familiarity with standard installation and fabrication methods of piping systems.
- Experience with one of the following standards: ASME/ANSI B16 and B31, API, etc.
- Must be eligible for a security clearance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with analysis tools such as ABAQUS CAE, ANSYS, Thermal Desktop.
- Currently holding a Secret Clearance.
- 10 years of high-pressure/high-temperature piping experience in oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, or aerospace industry.
- Experience with gases and liquids, AutoCAD.
This position is onsite in Hollywood, with the possibility to work at HQ in Huntsville and travel to Hollywood as needed. The preference is to be in Hollywood more often. You will work closely with a dedicated team of engineers and technicians who start their day as early as 7 AM, with flexibility to work from 8-8:30 AM to 4:30-5 PM.
The team is deeply invested in delivering high-quality products and is committed to staying late if necessary to achieve this goal. You will be part of a team of about 6-10 individuals within a larger group of 17 engineers and 30 technicians, fostering a rich environment for knowledge transfer and professional growth.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollywood, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $67.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
