As an Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing assembly equipment projects that support our manufacturing operations. From initial concept through commissioning and final handoff, you will ensure equipment is delivered safely, on time, and meets quality, productivity, and plant performance expectations.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and external suppliers, to deliver equipment projects that support production goals, enable successful product launches, and drive continuous improvements in equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
What You Will Do- Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment projects within assigned assembly areas, including Trim, Final Assembly, End-of-Line (EOL), and other production areas.
- Manage the complete equipment lifecycle, including concept development, design reviews, procurement coordination, supplier management, installation, commissioning, and final production handoff.
- Partner with equipment suppliers to ensure designs meet safety, quality, ergonomic, and production requirements.
- Coordinate project milestones, monitor schedules, and proactively identify and mitigate technical or timing risks.
- Lead equipment readiness activities, including design approvals, construction reviews, "OK to Ship" evaluations, installation, power-on, commissioning, buyoff, and final acceptance.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and optimize equipment performance.
- Coordinate contractor activities during installation while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, technical specifications, budgets, and project status updates throughout the equipment implementation process.
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing technical equipment projects in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and automated assembly equipment, manufacturing processes, and industrial automation.
- Experience managing equipment through the full project lifecycle, including concept development, procurement, installation, commissioning, and production launch.
- Familiarity with OEM equipment buyoff processes, including design approval, construction reviews, "OK to Ship," commissioning, and final acceptance.
- Strong project management, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to negotiate technical, cost, and timing requirements while maintaining project objectives.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Experience supporting assembly operations such as Chassis, Powertrain, Engine, Marriage, Trim, Final Assembly, or End-of-Line operations is preferred.
