Job Description: The Commercial Loan Officer III is an external sales role focused on growing a commercial portfolio through new customer relationships. This role must meet or exceed annual sales, revenue, volume, and new customer objectives, maximizing profitability and retention by cross‑selling the full range of products and services. It serves as the primary contact for developing new client relationships and managing existing ones.
CRE Commercial Loan Officer Responsibilities:
- Originate and structure commercial real estate loans including retail, industrial, multifamily, office and mixed‑use properties.
- Establish and maintain relationships with developers, attorneys, brokers and CRE industry networking sources.
- Analyze financials, cash flows, rent rolls, operating statements, collateral, and market data for credit decisioning.
- Work with internal business partners to complete credit discussion or approval memos.
- Negotiate loan terms and coordinate closings with legal counsel and underwriting teams.
- Monitor loan portfolio performance and ensure compliance.
- Meet or exceed annual production and portfolio growth goals while maintaining sound credit quality and acceptable ROE.
- Operate well within a high‑paced environment and collaborate with multiple team members.
- Experience with secured construction, term, and multi‑asset pool lending.
- Familiarity with loan documentation and regulatory requirements.
Depth & Scope:
- Works independently to develop new business with prospects having moderate to large complex credit needs.
- Maintains established market presence and makes calls independently.
- Collects financial and general business information, participates in the credit decision process, and communicates with prospects to close sales.
- Prepares basic management reports summarizing loan activity.
- Meets regularly with internal referral sources to build relationships and develops a network of outside referral sources.
- Compiles necessary data for financial analysis.
- Contributes to the loan decision process based on credit risk evaluation.
- Assists in developing less‑experienced loan officers.
- Supports Branch Managers and staff, educating them about products and the lending process.
- Makes or assists in sales calls, gathers information, and explains products and services.
- Drives growth goals (loans, deposits, fees) both individually and with the team through new commercial customers and cross‑selling existing customers.
Education & Experience:
- 4‑year degree or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of related experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial business development techniques and credit decisions.
- Demonstrated track record in business development.
- Strong market presence with a wide network of outside referral sources.
- Demonstrated credit and financial analysis skills.
- Refined negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PC skills.
- Membership in civic and professional organizations required.
