Virtual Financial Consultant
The Virtual Financial Consultant provides virtual counseling for all participants, new entrants, prospects, beneficiaries and their legal and financial representatives on the complete spectrum of TIAA products and services. This role covers institutions aligned to regional structures and offers financial planning advice via in‑person, phone and video chat to help clients accomplish their immediate and long‑term financial goals. Initially the role is non‑exempt with hourly pay and overtime eligibility;
after completing training it becomes exempt and salaried at the same hourly rate multiplied by forty hours.
- Counsels participants on their pension plans, tax‑deferred annuities and other available investment options to help clients retain and increase assets.
- Educates, recommends and facilitates new product purchases (including retail mutual funds, annuities, IRAs, 529 and 403b, bank products, life insurance and others) and provides authoritative information to support personal financial planning decisions.
- Interacts with retirement plan participants to provide exceptional customer service and execute transaction and service requests.
- Utilizes knowledge of tax and investment strategies to inform financial advice based on clients’ financial needs and objectives.
- Communicates internally with cross‑business partnerships to develop and implement TIAA products and services that support clients and company initiatives.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with Institutional Plan Sponsors.
Education
- University degree preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years required; 5+ years preferred.
FINRA Registration
- Series 7 and Series 63.
Licenses and Certifications
- Life and Health Insurance License (Resident State) – multiple issuers required within 120 days.
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work.
Career Level
: 7IC
Minimum of three days in the office per week.

Base Pay Range
: $70,600/yr – $103,000/yr
Competitive compensation may include incentive programs linked to performance.
