Job Summary
We are seeking a Coordinator - Commercial Trade to join our Sales, Marketing and Transportation team at our Central Mining Office in Brookwood, Alabama. This entry-level position is designed for a recent college graduate or current intern who has demonstrated strong potential, attention to detail, and an interest in commercial operations, trade documentation, and customer-facing support. The coordinator will support Warrior Met Coal's global sales by assisting with trade finance activities, export documentation, customer payment processes, and banking coordination while developing knowledge of contractual, banking, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with data, documents, and cross-functional teams. Prior exposure through an internship, coursework, or related project experience is valued, but direct experience with international trade documentation, letters of credit, or commercial finance is not required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Trade Finance & Letter of Credit Administration
* Review all Letters of Credit (LCs) against commercial contract terms prior to customer issuance.
* Coordinate LC amendments with customers and financial institutions to ensure contractual compliance.
* Monitor issuance timing to help ensure LCs are received at least five business days prior to expected Bill of Lading (BOL) dates.
* Track LC expiration dates, drawing limits, presentation deadlines, and amendment activity.
* Maintain and continuously update the Letter of Credit tracking system.
Export Documentation Management
* Coordinate the preparation, review, and distribution of complete export documentation packages, including:
* Bill of Lading (BOL)
* Certificate of Analysis (COA)
* Certificate of Weight (COW)
* Certificate of Origin (COO)
* Commercial Invoice
* Statement of Facts (SOF)
* Stowage Plan
* Additional customer-specific documentation
* Verify documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to bank presentation.
Banking & Document Presentation
* Manage timely presentation of trade documents to advise, confirm, and negotiate banks in accordance with applicable requirements.
* Track document status throughout the banking process.
* Help identify and resolve documentation discrepancies proactively to prevent payment delays, escalating issues as appropriate.
Cash Collections & Forecasting
* Maintain a rolling forecast of expected customer collections based on shipment schedules and document presentations.
* Monitor collection performance by customer, payment terms, and aging.
* Identify overdue payments and coordinate collection efforts with Commercial leadership.
* Support working capital optimization through accurate forecasting.
Banking & Trade Finance Coordination
* Serve as the primary commercial contact for banking partners regarding trade finance activities.
* Coordinate financing arrangements including:
* Letters of Credit (Sight and Usance)
* Cash Against Documents (CAD)
* Documents Against Payment (D/P)
* Supplier Financing
* Forfaiting
* Support continuous improvement of trade finance processes, documentation workflows, and banking coordination.
Customer Documentation Support
* Serve as the primary customer contact regarding documentation and payment matters.
* Coordinate draft invoice approvals.
* Provide shipment documentation updates.
* Respond to payment status inquiries and documentation requests.
Demurrage & Laytime Administration
* Track payable and receivable demurrage.
* Coordinate debit and credit note processing.
* Support reconciliation of Statements of Facts and laytime calculations with Export Operations.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
* Prepare weekly reports covering:
* Open Letters of Credit
* Pending document presentations
* Expected cash collections
* Documentation exceptions
* Customer payment status
* Commercial escalations
* Develop reporting tools to improve visibility into commercial trade performance.
Additional Responsibilities
As the Commercial Trade function continues to evolve and the coordinator gains experience, this position may support or gradually assume responsibility for:
Trade Compliance
* Coordinate sanctions screening of customers, financial institutions, and vessels using applicable U.S. and international sanctions lists.
* Support compliance with international trade regulations.
Trade Credit Insurance
* Manage the trade insurance renewal process from the Sales department side (in accordance with Treasury).
