Location: Redstone Arsenal
Duties
* Develop audit programs of high priority complex audit and evaluations.
* Evaluate audit resources and time frames and recommend changes to programmed requirements.
* Review draft findings of audit teams and revise as necessary to ensure that conditions, causes, effects and recommendations are properly presented and supported.
* Prepare significant action reports, executive digests, and reports of material weaknesses for the Army Secretariat and staff.
* Conduct exit conferences with Army officials to present audit conclusions, defend results, justify recommendations, answer questions on audit methodologies, and resolve differences.
* Brief results of audit to other service audit agencies, Office of the Secretary of War, and/or Congressional officials.
* Participate in the official command reply process, and defend or develop suitable alternatives during report mediation and adjudication process.
* Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. Requirements Conditions of employment
* You may be expected to travel up to 25% for this position.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* This position is required to obtain and maintain Financial Management Certification Level 3.
* This is a Supervisory position and may require a supervisory probationary period. Qualifications Who May Apply:

A. Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcript and/or certificate with your application package or you will be rated ineligible).
OR
B. Combination of
Education and Experience:
Must include at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: (You MUST submit a copy of your transcript and/or certificate with your application package or you will be rated ineligible) (1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
This can include up to 6 hours of business law; OR
2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; OR (3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining;
AND (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with…
