Location: Maxwell
Duties Plans, conducts, and directs operations research activities to support development of Air Force, joint, and multinational doctrine. Using proven, as well new and innovative approaches, studies complex data and data sources using appropriate and varied analytical techniques to develop military doctrine. Reviews, edits, and writes doctrine based upon knowledge and clear understanding of current USAF and joint military policy, operational practices, and study results, requiring a thorough understanding of the functioning of the Joint Force, NATO and multinational partners, and the Air Force.
To support the development of relevant and current doctrine, independently seeks out and analyzes a complex variety of data sources and reference material on actual, simulated, and theoretical military operations and concepts. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.
* Employee may be required to travel to forward operating locations (FOLs), Geographic Combatant Commands, and the National Capital Region (NCR).
* Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and or/holidays
* Position requires a Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series 0301 SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes mastery of one or more specialized areas of operations research sufficient to apply new analytical developments, methodologies, and research findings to broad studies of an unprecedented nature, difficult to determine in advance. Mastery of qualitative and quantitative research techniques and concomitant ability to obtain information concerning complex subject studies so as to be able to perform sound analysis.
Expert knowledge of workings, characteristics, and composition of major weapons systems and relationships to other weapons systems and concomitant military operations, strategies, tactics and associated logistics. Expert knowledge of command relationships affecting global organizations from the level of combatant command to the tactical level. Expert knowledge of complex subjects under study so that conclusions reflect real world environments. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
