POSITION DUTIES
This position is eligible for 1 day of telework after the probation period.
- The main purpose of this position is to serve as the Psychology Services Chief for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in a geographical region. As such the incumbent is responsible for directing, coordinating, and integrating psychology services within each correctional institution located within the region, including the regional Correctional Mental Health Unit (if applicable).
- This involves program development, diagnostic assessment, clinical consultation, and audit functions. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for administrative supervision as well as clinical supervision of the psychologist in the region.
- Direct and coordinate all psychology activities of the mental health program within the DPSCS region.
- Collect and review institutional monthly statistical reports to determine the status of the region's mental health program activities, including ensuring timeliness, workload review, accuracy of information, and duties of each clinician are performed satisfactorily.
- Oversees peer reviews and/or audits of performance of mental health personnel within the region.
- Consults with other program directors and managers or officials of agencies outside the Department on policies, plans, goals of the mental health program and needs of the incarcerated individual population.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders regarding ongoing litigation.
- Duties as assigned by the Director and/or Deputy of Mental Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D, Psy.
D) in Psychology. - Experience:
One year of experience working within a correctional mental health department.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position in State service.
- Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit.
