Director of Education & Infection Control (RN)

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience in skilled nursing, hospital, or related healthcare setting preferred
• Experience in staff development, education, or infection prevention preferred
• Knowledge of CDC, OSHA, CMS, and state regulations related to infection control and staff education
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and computer skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee facility orientation for all new employees
• Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing staff education and in-service training programs
• Maintain employee education records, competencies, and required certifications
• Provide education related to policies, procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance
• Assist department managers with identifying educational needs
• Coordinate CPR certification and other mandatory training programs
• Ensure completion of annual mandatory education requirements
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
• Coordinate and oversee Health Science Education classes with the local high school

• Develop and maintain the facility Infection Prevention and Control Program
• Conduct infection surveillance and maintain required logs and reports
• Educate staff on infection prevention practices including hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, and outbreak management
• Coordinate response efforts during outbreaks or infectious disease events
• Ensure proper reporting to local and state health departments as required
