Ultrasound Technician
Plans, coordinates, supervises, and carries out the activities of the ultrasound area. Work is carried out in an independent, professional manner with minimal supervision.
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED
ExperienceNo prior work experience required
Licenses & Certifications* Healthcare Provider (CPR)
Qualifications* Previous experience as a Sonographer Echo Tech preferred. Must obtain CPR certification within 30 days from hire.
Area of Responsibilities* Demonstrates competency in patient care for the following age categories: (a)
Neonate (through 28 days) (b) Infant (29 days to 1 year of age) (c) Toddler (1 year through 2 years of age) (d) Preschool (3 years to 5 years of age) (e) School Age (5 years to 12 years of age) (f) Adolescent (12 years to 18 years of age) (g) Adult (18 years to 65 years of age) (h) Geriatric (65 years of age and older)
* Participates in continuing education and department meetings as certification.
* Performs ultrasound procedures.
* Responsible for maintaining all professional registrations and certifications mandated per policy and as set forth by TJC and other regulating agencies.
* Responsible for stocking ultrasound area with proper supplies.
* And other related duties as assigned.
* May be assigned to work a shift or take call at any ultrasound site within Tanner Health System.
* Responsible for maintenance of proper patient records.
* Responsible for OA/AC programs.
* Responsible for ultrasound maintenance on equipment including proper records.
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
Contact With OthersRequires frequent but limited contacts with many others to do job, or extensive contacts with a limited number of categories of people to apply procedures or treatment. Requires discretion and tact to interpret departmental procedures.
Effect Of ErrorProbable errors may be serious and involve losses such as improper costs, over payment, waste of material, damage to equipment, and delay in processing work. Effect usually confined within the organization. Most of work not subject to direct verification or check. Regularly works with some confidential data such as account, salaries, patient medical records, which if disclosed might have adverse internal or external effects.
