Employee Relations Consultation and Case Management

Serve as an Employee Relations consultant for assigned colleges, divisions, and administrative units, providing guidance and consultation to managers, supervisors, HR professionals, and other stakeholders on a broad range of employee relations matters. Advise departments regarding performance management, corrective action, employee conduct, workplace concerns, attendance and leave-related issues, organizational changes, and other employment-related matters. Review documentation and assess workplace situations to recommend appropriate corrective or disciplinary actions consistent with University policies and practices.

Draft, review, and assist with the implementation of employee relations documents, including reprimands, suspensions, dismissals, non-reappointments, and other employment-related correspondence. Interpret and apply applicable federal and state laws, University regulations, collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and promote consistent employment practices. Maintain accurate case files, records, and supporting documentation related to employee relations matters.

Investigations, Conflict Resolution, and Complaint Management

Conduct workplace reviews, fact-finding inquiries, and assessments of employee relations concerns. Interview employees, supervisors, and witnesses; analyze information; prepare findings and recommendations; assist with grievance processes; and facilitate informal conflict resolution efforts when appropriate.

Workers' Compensation Program Support and Backup

Coverage Serve as the designated backup for the University's Workers' Compensation Program by assisting with claims administration, case coordination, employee communications, and related program operations during primary staff absences, periods of increased workload, or other operational needs. Work collaboratively with departments, supervisors, employees, and the Workers' Compensation Specialist to support the management of claims, coordinate return-to-work efforts, and address matters related to modified duty assignments and work restrictions.

Provide guidance and support regarding Workers' Compensation processes and procedures, and maintain a working knowledge of applicable Workers' Compensation laws, regulations, policies, and program requirements to ensure continuity of operations and effective service delivery.

Policy Interpretation and Compliance Research

Interpret, and apply employment laws, regulations, University policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. Provide guidance regarding policy application and identify potential compliance concerns.

Training and Outreach

Develop and deliver training related to employee relations, performance management, corrective action, workplace conduct, conflict resolution, and other human resources topics. Provide consultation and coaching to supervisors and managers regarding performance management practices, employee development, documentation, and accountability, and support departmental efforts to foster effective workplace performance.

Expected Salary: $61,000 - $62,200
