Job Title
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
12 Months - 240 Day
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree;
Master's degree preferred. - Five (5) years experience in student database management at the school level or higher.
- Extensive knowledge of database file structure.
- Five (5) years experience with the use of electronic database information.
- Proven experience using student information systems and other data systems, Microsoft Products, Google Applications, Viewsonic Panels, and experience with 1:1 devices.
- Possess and maintain valid Alabama driver's license and BCS insurable driving record required.
- Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regular and punctual attendance required; full compliance with BCS sick leave and personal leave policies.
- Serve as student information system (SIS) supervisor.
- Administer, manage, and maintain the student information system and other data systems.
- Develop and implement procedures for effective data management for staff ex. checklists.
- Along with the Technology Coordinator, oversee and manage staff access rights and maintain the integrity and security of the student information system and other data systems.
- Assist in producing and the submission of state and federal reports using the student information system and other data systems.
- Collaborate with school staff with scheduling and grading issues.
- Assist in the development of report cards, reports and other documents as required.
- Participate in data migration and data integration activities involving the student information system and other data systems.
- Assist parents with the student information system and online enrollment.
- Assist staff with technology issues remotely and in person when necessary.
- Lead efforts to keep data up to date, error free and free of duplicates.
- Coordinate efforts with the schools when new data needs to be entered in the student information system or other data systems.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
- Develop and continually improve professional skills appropriate to the job assignment.
- Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Assist in developing Internet and network usage policy changes that relate to the use of the SIS.
- Serve as technical contact for student information program vendors.
- Provide technical assistance to departments responsible for LEAPS, ADM/ADA, SIR and child count reporting.
- Set up train-the-trainer sessions with vendors to train teachers and administrators in the use of the SIS and provide technical support for trainers and additional training as needed.
- Maintain employee badges and the badging database.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Physical ability to work a standard workday and additional hours as required.
- Ability to maintain the student information database.
- Ability to train teachers and administrators in the use of the SIS.
- Skills in analyzing the student information database for errors and guiding users through the error correction process.
- Ability to complete and submit required SDE reports in a timely manner.
- Ability to write comprehensive and coherent instructions on the use of the student information database.
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot problems encountered with the SIS and act as a liaison with the software vendor to correct problems encountered.
- Ability to provide technical advice and assistance on computer hardware and software necessary to support the SIS.
- Ability to work cooperatively with the Technology Coordinator, and computer repair technicians in the areas of acquiring and implementing new technologies and the development of training modules for effective use of technologies by the student information database users.
- Attend conferences related to SIS as deemed necessary by the Technology Coordinator.
- Knowledge of board policies and procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication and leadership skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lift moderately heavy weights on an occasional basis.
- Ability to turn, twist, bend, and stoop on a regular basis.
- Adequate strength, mobility, dexterity, agility, and visual and aural acuity to perform required tasks.
