ASL Interpreter – Anniston Army Depot (ANAD)
LocationAnniston Army Depot, Bynum, Calhoun County, Alabama (on-site)
Occasional assignments may occur elsewhere within Calhoun County.
Contract-based, On As-Needed-Service (AON)
Support for internal events and functions requiring ASL interpretation.
Ongoing; assignment requests are provided at least seven (7) working days prior to each event. Events typically require a minimum 24-hour notice for location specifics.
PurposeProvide on-site American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for deaf and hearing-impaired employees, ensuring effective communication at workplace events, meetings, training sessions, and other Depot-related functions.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver ASL interpretation services at ANAD events including:
Employee Appreciation Days
Command Town Hall Meetings
Training sessions
Award ceremonies
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office visits
Depot Personnel Office interactions
Legal proceedings
Law enforcement interviews and investigations
Employee counseling and performance briefings
Respond to service requests within two (2) working days of receipt. If unavailable after confirmation, promptly notify the EEO Office.
Provide your own transportation. Reimbursement for mileage may apply when travel falls outside the local commuting area.
Sign and adhere to confidentiality agreements prior to event attendance (agreement provided in contract Appendix
A).Possess clearance or credentials to enter ANAD unescorted.
Submit a detailed, itemized invoice including:
Type of event
Date and duration (hours/days)
Direct labor hours (estimated and paid)
Data collection costs
Total payment breakdown
Confirmation signature by EEO representative
Start and end dates of billing period
Do not accept verbal or written changes to the scope from anyone other than the Contracting Officer; all changes must be issued in writing.
ASL Certification: Provide proof of ASL interpreter certification from a recognized credentialing body.
Interpretation
Skills:
Fluent expressive and receptive ASL and English interpreting, both simultaneous and consecutive.Security Clearance: Successfully pass all government-mandated access requirements to operate unescorted at Anniston Army Depot.
Professionalism: Must sign and adhere to confidentiality agreement as a condition of service.
Transportation: Capable and reliable transportation required for travel to and from service locations.
Availability: Services requested on an "as-needed" basis with advanced notice, accommodating a wide range of event types.
Location Flexibility: Primarily based on-site at ANAD, with occasional assignments across Calhoun County.
Communication & Confidentiality: High level of professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity to mission requirements and privacy considerations is essential.
