Recaust Operator

Position Overview

Georgia Pacific is hiring a Powerhouse Operator for our Perdue Hill/Alabama River, AL facility. The role involves safe operations in the causticizing and lime kiln process, and requires experience in a manufacturing environment. The position is paid $24.61 per hour.

Shift: Twelve‑hour rotating shifts with required overtime. Rotation schedule: 4 days (5 am–5 pm), 7 days off, 4 nights (5 pm–5 am), 3 days off, 3 days (5 am–5 pm), 1 day off, 3 nights (5 pm–5 am), and 3 days off. Weekend and holiday overtime may be required.

• Operate equipment to achieve expected performance levels in the Lime Kiln/Recaust area.
• Drive mobile equipment to move material around the work site.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production and safety goals.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Maintain a clean work area to ensure readiness, safety, and reliability.
• Work safely and independently in a fast‑paced environment involving steam, chemicals, ladders, manual valves, and routine cleanup.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Recaust/Lime kiln operations within 90 days.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel for data entry and document creation.
• 6 months of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, military, construction, production, warehouse, loading/unloading, fishing, or logging environment.

• Two‑year degree in Pulp and Paper Technology.
• Two or more years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Two or more years of experience in the pulp and paper industry.
• One or more years of experience in maintenance or reliability.
• Experience with basic mechanical maintenance and/or machine troubleshooting.
