2nd shift - Furnace Operator

Job Overview

Furnace Operator – A full‑time role located in the Casting Department of Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. Supports casting melt processes under the guidance of the Shift Lead or Supervisor.

• Operate and maintain casting melt processes and equipment following established procedures.
• Monitor the casting process, inspect for quality issues, and report concerns.
• Assist with routine furnace maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
• Troubleshoot furnace or equipment issues and perform basic corrective actions.
• Support setup and changeover of furnace and equipment under supervision.
• Follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and use personal protective equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with suggestions for process enhancement.
• Participate in training sessions to expand technical skills.
• Complete required documentation and safety checks before operations.
• Provide regular updates on work progress and collaborate on data analysis for reporting.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of casting processes advantageous.
• Ability to follow instructions, work in a fast‑paced environment, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Interest in melting processes and chip/briquette melting.
• Basic mechanical concepts knowledge related to gravity die castings.
• Quick learning and adaptability to new responsibilities.
• Ability to safely move dross, ingot, or hot aluminum with supplied tools.

Work in a manufacturing environment, standing for extended periods, performing physically demanding tasks, and lifting heavy objects as required.
