MPS Group, Inc.,is seeking a Chemical Conveyance & Hazardous Waste Coordinator to join our team at the
Mercedes Benz US International facility located in
Vance, AL.This individual is responsible forthe safe handling, storage, transportation, documentation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials throughout the facility.
Job Duties:
- Manage facility waste streams including hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste, recyclables, mixed debris, and general plant refuse.
- Maintain and inspect waste collection and accumulation areas, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Support spill response activities, including collecting, handling, transporting, and managing spill-related waste materials.
- Receive inbound chemical deliveries and inspect containers for damage, leaks, or other deficiencies.
- Verify shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and packing slips.
- Apply required facility and regulatory labels to chemical containers.
- Store chemicals within designated hazardous materials storage areas according to hazard classification requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels, trackexpirationdates, and coordinate disposal of expired chemicals with environmental personnel.
- Maintain chemical inventory records and chain-of-custody documentation to ensure.
- Collect and transport hazardous waste, recyclables, and chemical materials throughout the facility.
- Deliver chemicals to production areas and coordinate retrieval of empty containers for reuse, disposal, or supplier pickup.
- Operate forklifts, balers, and other material handling equipment to support waste segregation and recycling activities.
- Organize andmaintainshipping records and associated documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and customer safety requirements.
- Assist with environmental training for customer and facility personnelregardingproper waste management practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Coordinate with customer Environmental Health & Safety teamsregardingpriorities, projects, and compliance initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to reduce waste generation and improve environmental performance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience using forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manifests, shipping documents, and regulatory records.
- Haz Mat, DOT, RCRA, or environmental compliance training/certifications.
- Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and communication skills.
- Associate degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Chemistry, or related field.
- Previous waste management, environmental services, or chemical inventory management experience.
- Ability to carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when necessary.
- Experience handling hazardous materials, chemicals, or regulated waste streams in a manufacturing, industrial, environmental, orlogisticsenvironment.
