Job Description & How to Apply Below
Robotics, Automation & Fabrication Systems Analyst
The Robotics, Automation & Fabrication Systems Analyst supports robotic welding and CNC-driven fabrication workflows by converting design and CNC data into actionable production plans. This role runs robotic welding simulations, analyzes performance data, identifies "robot-friendly" parts for automation, develops efficiency metrics, and translates 3D model data into estimated man-hours to support machine and production bay schedules. The position also provides 3D CAD modeling support for fabrication and automation planning needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesRobotic Welding Simulation & Analytics
- Import CNC/robot program files into simulation software and validate/prepare models and paths for analysis.
- Extract simulation outputs (cycle time, weld time, travel time, efficiency rates, automation vs. manual fabrication hours) and summarize results.
- Build and maintain an efficiency matrix and part-ranking system to identify robot-friendly parts and recommend automation candidates.
- Flag constraints (fixturing needs, access issues, sequencing concerns, distortion risk, joint prep complexity) and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with production and QA teams to verify assumptions and close the loop between simulation predictions and shop results.
Data-Driven Scheduling
- Import model data into estimating/production software or internal tools.
- Convert part/assembly data into estimated fabrication labor hours using routing standards and historical performance data.
- Create and maintain production routings and time standards for machines and bays.
- Support machine and bay scheduling by summarizing work based on estimated hours, capacity, constraints, and due dates.
- Monitor plan vs. actual performance; refine time standards and scheduling logic for accuracy improvement.
3D CAD & Fabrication Systems Support
- Develop and edit 3D CAD models for fixtures, weldments, tooling, or process planning needs.
- Create/maintain models used in robotic simulation with correct geometry, datums, and metadata.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, data integrity, and production reporting.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience in manufacturing, fabrication, robotics support, CNC/programming, production planning, or manufacturing analytics (steel fabrication preferred).
- Experience importing/working with CNC or robotic program data and interpreting outputs.
- Strong Excel and data skills (tables, pivot tables, charts; ability to structure datasets cleanly).
- 3D CAD competency (Solid Works, Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar).
- Ability to communicate clearly with both shop-floor teams and engineering/detailing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Robotic welding simulation experience (any major platform) and/or robotic programming exposure.
- Familiarity with structural steel fabrication workflows and constraints (fit-up, weld sequence, distortion, quality standards).
- Experience with production scheduling, routing, or ERP/MES systems; using historical data to build time standards.
- Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., Excel Power Query, Python, SQL) a plus.
