Arcosa Traffic Structures is looking for a Heavy Assembler. In this position you will assemble mechanical units, fabricate parts/components, sub-assemblies, assemble and complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment.

Sumterville, FL

What you’ll do:
  • Fit, align, calibrate and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements
  • Read blueprints and verify the parts required prior to assembly
  • Inform supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem
  • Repair units or products that have failed to meet requirements
  • Attach components to finished product as specified
  • Lay out reference points, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts according to blueprint and layout specifications
  • Identify parts that need repair and perform repairs as necessary
  • Maybe involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Follows safety rules and practices
What you’ll need:
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Able to lift 65+ pounds, repeatedly
  • 2+ years of experience in general assembly work
  • Steel yard experience is preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and layout specifications
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment
  • Identify and match up sub-assembly to final product
  • Experience with power and air tools to apply appropriate torque sequence and values
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work in all-weather elements and loud noises
  • Basic communication skills
Working Conditions:
  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
  • Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
