Nurses joining the Trauma Surgical Unit are part of a high-caliber interdisciplinary team dedicated to acute care trauma and surgical patients, with additional exposure to orthopedic and urology specialties. You'll work in a supportive environment that values collaboration among hospitalists, family practice physicians, and a variety of surgical specialists, fostering both professional development and knowledge sharing. This hands-on experience in a patient-focused setting is ideal for expanding your resume and learning new leadership and care approaches.

Schedule/Hours:

• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as needed

Key Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Active Registered Nurse license in Alabama or Compact state (no temporary licenses)
• Valid AHA BLS (or Red Cross) certification
• Minimum 2 years RN experience (or 18 months with at least 1 year recent Med-Surg experience)
• Willingness to float to other units and nearby hospitals as needed

Responsibilities:

• Care for trauma, surgical, orthopedic, and urology patients through a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Deliver individualized, patient-centered care and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings
• Collaborate with physicians and surgical specialists to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide support for patients admitted for surgery, illness, tests, or observation
