Job Overview

The RN Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Stroke Program and overseeing the development, accreditation, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs that meet national standards for patients and healthcare professionals. The coordinator also provides administrative support, coordinates management and operations, and promotes the continuity of care for patients through ongoing education, program development, outcome evaluation, and direct interaction with patients, families, and groups.

CORE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs and oversees Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other health care providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated patient and family education.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in patient outcomes and participates in plans to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and oversees preparation and submission of education programs to meet national standards of accreditation for patients, nurses, exercise physiologists and exercise specialists, as applicable.
  • Prepares and performs annual review of the program.
  • Assists in the revision and review of policies and protocols.
  • Assists with marketing and program preparation.
  • Conducts daily rounds and/or audits on applicable patient population, as needed.
  • Supervises, trains, and promotes the development of staff and provides direction as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Heavy/Hard work:
    Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 35+ lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Working irregular hours.
  • Working around biohazards/infectious diseases.
  • Working with electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process.
  • Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians, and other employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
Experience
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in nursing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Certification in area of specialty.
Experience
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience in Nursing.
