Position: RN Weekend - Pediatrics - FT -3rd Shift
Location: Longwood

Overview

Pediatrics is a 38‑bed medical surgical floor located within Women and Children’s Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to 21 years of age. Their specialized training allows them to provide patients and families with age‑appropriate emotional support and medical care. Our nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Pediatric Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Residents, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Social Workers and Child Life Therapy.

The pediatric nurse must be caring, compassionate, and have critical thinking skills. The nurse will need to assess a patient’s condition, detect any changes, and recognize when further intervention is necessary. Our department provides educational opportunities to promote a solid foundation in caring for our patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

License, Certification and/or Registration: Current Alabama or multi‑state nursing license required. BLS for healthcare providers must be obtained during orientation. PALS required within one year of hire.

Experience: New RN graduates accepted.

Additional Skill/Abilities: Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing and changing tasks frequently. Department‑specific competencies must be completed within the provisional period.
