Great Rivers Animal Hospital in Alton, IL is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant with 2+ years of experience to join our compassionate team of pet care professionals. Located near St. Louis, we provide comprehensive veterinary services in a modern, well-equipped environment. The RoleAs a Veterinary Assistant, you ll be a valued member of our clinical team, supporting our veterinarians and technicians in providing exceptional care to our patients and outstanding service to our clients.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures
- Restrain and handle animals safely during exams and treatments
- Clean and maintain treatment areas, kennels, and equipment
- Prepare patients for surgery and recovery
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Maintain detailed medical records
- Work-Life Balance:

- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in animal handling and restraint techniques
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and basic procedures
- Passion for animal care and client education
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
