POSITION SUMMARY

Scan and Receiver Trainer is responsible for training all store Scan Coordinators within a region on how to change and update all price signs and tags throughout the store for each weekly special.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Scan Duties

  • Train the Scan Coordinators on the process of receiving and reviewing new price lists from the Support Center on a weekly basis;
  • Ensure the team is accurately trained on the process of removing and replacing expired price tags and producing additional signs when needed;
  • Train the team on how to properly handle the scanner machine, perform daily price audits, and generate reports to ensure that all prices of merchandise/products are updated;
  • Ensure all Scan Coordinators are knowledgeable on the process of all ad events by putting up signs/tags of all items being advertised, including 1‑day sales, weekly ad, or monthly specials;
  • Develop TMS to take inventory and examine merchandise to identify prices that need to be updated;
  • Train and oversee TMs with changing shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new prices;
  • Compare merchandise prices, dates, and UPC codes to ensure that they are correct;
  • Place orders for extra price tags based on merchandise on hand, customer demand, or advertised specials;
  • Perform daily audits and generate reports to ensure that all prices of merchandise are updated.

Receiving Duties

  • Develop and implement training programs for new hires and ongoing training for existing receiving staff;
  • Facilitate hands‑on training on receiving processes including receipt verification, quality control checks, and inventory management;
  • Teach staff on how to properly use receiving/scanning software and equipment;
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on industry best practices and applicable regulatory guidelines, incorporating them into training materials as necessary;
  • Evaluate the performance of receiving staff, provide feedback, and develop improvement plans when necessary;
  • Collaborate with store managers and supervisors to understand and address training needs;
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations;
  • Resolve any issues or problems that arise in the receiving department, providing solutions and guidance.

Other Duties

  • Maintain constant and consistent communication with supervisors, submit Self‑Accountability paperwork when requested, and complete other job‑related duties;
  • Visit all assigned stores on a weekly and consistent basis;
  • Acquire information—observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources;
  • Use deductive reasoning to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers;
  • Communicate with trainers, peers, or subordinates by telephone, in written form, by email, or in person;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Grocery/Retail;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Supervisory/Leadership/Training role;
  • Strong communication and time‑management skills;
  • Strong computer/MS Office skills;
  • Bilingual—English/Spanish preferred;
  • Ability to travel to various stores throughout the region (may include Northern/Southern CA, AZ, and NV).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, sit, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls;
  • Constant use of scanner/hand‑held control 90% of the time;
  • Requires vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Requires meeting strict deadlines (time‑sensitive);
  • Requires being exact and highly accurate (importance of being exact or accurate);
  • Work environment typical of a grocery store.
