Overview
Location:
Vincent AL, 35178 (Extensive travel throughout the Southeastern United States (primarily Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi))
Work Schedule
Typically, four (4) 10-hour days (Monday–Thursday), with occasional 10-day shifts
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Field Geologist with 5–10 years of related field experience to support environmental and geotechnical investigations. The ideal candidate will oversee monitoring well installations, conduct soil and rock logging, manage drilling contractors, and support groundwater monitoring and environmental sampling programs. This role requires strong technical expertise, regulatory awareness, and the ability to work independently in field environments.
Minimum Qualifications- 5–10 years of experience in geology, environmental field investigations, or related discipline
- Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Geology (preferred) or Geological Engineering
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
- Provide field oversight for: foundation investigations, geologic site characterizations, detailed soil and rock logging, professional logs for soil, rock, and monitoring well construction data, installation of groundwater monitoring and water quality equipment, collection, management, and reporting of groundwater and environmental data, execution of environmental sampling and testing programs, management of drilling contractors and subcontractors in accordance with company guidelines, interface with internal teams, customers, and Geologist/Land Group peers, compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, and maintaining safety standards with a safety-first culture
- Experience executing field investigations using various drilling methods
- Strong background in:
- Soil and rock logging
- Monitoring well construction
- Groundwater monitoring
- Field data reporting
- Knowledge of environmental sampling and testing methods
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Working knowledge of gINT BoreDM Boring Log Program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Strong computer literacy and data management skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
- 100% travel required throughout the Southeastern United States
- Agency must provide a rental vehicle (Ford F250 4x4 or similar)
- Monthly vehicle rental cost reimbursed (no markup permitted)
- Fuel costs fully reimbursed
- Lodging and meal expenses reimbursed for work-related travel and overnight stays
