Job Summary
Conduct basic tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental, engineering, and scientific personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil.
Responsibilities- Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with established protocols.
- Conduct basic chemical and physical laboratory and field tests according to prescribed standards to determine characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials and substances.
- Collect samples of gases from air emission points and other air samples and meteorological data to assist in evaluating atmospheric pollutants.
- Collect water samples from raw, semi‑processed or processed water, industrial waste water, or other sources to assess pollution problems.
- Collect soil, silt, mud, or sediment samples to determine chemical composition and nature of pollutants.
- Prepare samples for testing, record data, prepare summaries and charts, and develop a report detailing activities performed and results received.
- Set monitoring equipment to provide flow of information.
- Install, operate, and perform routine maintenance on gas and fluid flow systems, chemical reaction systems, mechanical equipment, and other test instrumentation.
- Assist with the installation of routine equipment and instrumentation.
- Operate fixed or mobile monitoring or data collection station.
- Conduct bacteriological or other tests related to research in environmental or pollution control activity.
- Audit properties of samples collected to identify physical evidence of environmental releases.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Additional or specialized training (preferred).
- Zero to four years of related experience (preferred).
- Relevant certification or advanced training in environmental science, chemistry, or related field.
Work in both indoor gas plant conditions and outdoor conditions including inclement weather, heat, and humidity. This role is safety‑sensitive and requires strict compliance with all safety rules and protocols. Drug and alcohol testing may be required, including pre‑employment screening, post‑incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing.

Expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $23 per hour. The specific salary offered may be influenced by a candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
