Chemical Technician
We are seeking an experienced Chemical Technician to support laboratory operations, chemical testing, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities. In this role, you will work closely with chemists, engineers, and operations personnel to ensure the safe production, analysis, and management of chemical products while maintaining the highest standards of laboratory safety and environmental stewardship. This position is ideal for a professional with strong analytical skills, hands-on laboratory experience, and a background in water treatment, industrial operations, or manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform chemical testing and analysis to identify product composition, contaminants, and impurities.
- Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure products meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Compile, interpret, and validate laboratory test data while identifying and resolving anomalies.
- Generate reports, charts, and graphical results for laboratory leadership and stakeholders.
- Monitor chemical processes and production activities to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and correct production challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory and process efficiency.
- Prepare chemical solutions and reagents according to established procedures.
- Manage chemical inventory, prioritize orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Safely store chemicals and solutions according to temperature and handling requirements.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Stay current on OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable safety regulations and protocols.
- Maintain clean and organized laboratory work spaces, including sterilizing equipment and work surfaces.
- Inspect equipment and coordinate repairs or replacement of worn or damaged components.
- Train and mentor new laboratory technicians.
- Support ongoing education and implementation of new laboratory technologies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field. A minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry is required.
10–15 years of relevant chemical laboratory experience. Experience with laboratory instrumentation, calibration, maintenance, and analytical methods. Experience interpreting laboratory data and troubleshooting testing issues.
Technical
Skills:
Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques and laboratory best practices. Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Attention to detail, documentation, and data accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with boiler water and water analysis.
- Previous experience in a water treatment plant environment.
- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of deionized (DI) water production systems.
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment, maintenance, and repair.
- Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) credential.
- Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) credential.
