Location: Abbeville
The Campus Police Officer implements the College’s security policies and procedures and maintains peace, order, safety, and security for students, faculty, staff, and the public. This position safeguards the College’s physical facilities, grounds, and property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activities. This position must be held by a current APOSTIC-certified police officer.

Work ScheduleWork-week: Sunday through Sunday
Work shifts: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, and 11:00 pm - 7:00 am
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED Certificate is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of employment experience as a police officer.
- APOST minimum Standards Certificate or ability to achieve a lateral transfer from APOST.
- Valid Alabama driver’s license.
- Must be insurable by the College’s insurance carrier.
- Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Employment experience as a police officer in a college setting is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of law enforcement methods, security methods, and traffic control procedures.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Prolonged sitting and standing at times.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- Ability to travel independently.
- Ability to work with large groups.
- Ability to traverse both campuses.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to communicate by using PC, telephone, and written media.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation. The applicant will be responsible for the cost of the criminal background investigation.
