Operate 90 ton or above cranes in accordance with all manufacturer and industry standards. Operate mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or productions in many directions safely.
Key Responsibilities- Operate crane to lift and move materials and other objects; plan all lifts; using capacity charts; perform rigging inspection and daily equipment inspection including cables and grappling devices for wear and tear; assist in installing or repairing cables as needed; respond accordingly to both hand and verbal commands.
- Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property; listen to warning alarms and respond accordingly; read boom angle and drum rotation indicators.
- Manipulate crane control to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
- Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines including cleaning and maintaining crane, cables, and hoisting mechanism.
- Follow inspection and maintenance schedule for equipment assuring that equipment is in good working order; perform daily inspections on crane prior to operation; assure monthly and annual inspections are complete; assure that prior to lift the pre-lift safety checklist has been completed in its entirety.
- Maintain OCI Equipment Qualification certificate or equivalent Nationally recognized certification and current Medical Examiner's Certificate on person at all times.
- Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requested; engage with work team to achieve zero injuries; watch for hazards and report concerns; use stop work authority if needed; report all accidents and near misses to supervisor.
- Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions; identify safety hazards; take corrective action; understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices.
- Attend site specific training and follow all procedures as outlined in training; follow established safety rules and regulations; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Use effective verbal and written communication skills; coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers; provide on-the-job training and/or mentoring.
- Read and understand plans, specifications, operator manuals, safety manuals, rigging tables and load capacity charts.
- Fill out OSHA required daily and monthly inspection reports as required for each interval.
- Plan and lay-out for crane operators work.
- Observe functioning of equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, repair or replacement.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, cost saving measures; take corrective actions as needed reporting any issues to supervision.
- Comply with Company Code of Conduct and jobsite policies; perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing principal duties and accountabilities.
