Field Machinist

Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Field Machinist to operate a variety of machines at various sites and utilities. A great machinist needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.

Responsibilities :

• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Read and interpret documentation (work instructions and blueprints) for the setup of various machines.
• Adhere to all site and company rules, regulations, PPE requirements, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Experience working in an industrial setting with industrial, or nuclear experience considered an asset .
• A fundamental understanding of machining processes.
• Proficiency with various field machining equipment including split frames (clamshells), flange facers, boring bars, portable mills, etc.
• A minimum of two (2) years of documented work experience with field machining
• Two (2) years of work experience in a machine shop may be considered providing that applicant can demonstrate adaptation of shop machining principles to field machining.
• Three (3) years of verifiable work experience in the trade (Millwright or Pipe fitter) may also be considered .
• Have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read drawings, reference manuals, and assembl y instruction guides.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as working as part of a team .
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel extensively and work variable hours .
• Able to pass background screens and drug/alcohol testing as required by our customers .
• TWIC card a plus .

• Ability to work 10+ hours per day, up to 7 days/week
• Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces if needed
• Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights
