Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Fiber Technicians to support long‑term commercial and hyperscale data center infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for installing, terminating, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and structured cabling systems while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with fiber optic installations in mission‑critical environments, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities
  • Install fiber optic cabling in commercial buildings and hyperscale data centers.
  • Route, dress, secure, and label fiber and copper cabling throughout facilities.
  • Build and maintain cable pathways, including J‑hooks, D‑rings, ladder racks, and cable trays.
  • Perform fiber terminations using Single‑Mode and Multi‑Mode fiber with LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, and other connector types.
  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing, including loose tube and tight‑buffered fiber cables.
  • Conduct fiber testing and certification using OTDR, Fluke DTX/DSX, and other testing equipment.
  • Calculate fiber loss budgets and verify installations meet applicable TIA/EIA standards.
  • Troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling faults, including attenuation issues, opens, shorts, and transposed pairs.
  • Install Wireless Access Points (WAPs).
  • Construct and organize telecommunications rooms, including MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, cable trays, grounding, and supporting hardware.
  • Perform copper terminations, including CAT3/CAT5 cabling, 110/66 blocks, and patch panels.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, installation drawings, and project documentation.
  • Complete work orders, testing documentation, labeling, and timesheets accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and team members to complete projects on schedule.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of structured cabling and fiber optic installation experience.
  • Experience working in hyperscale data center environments is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with fiber optic termination, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using fusion splicers such as Fujikura or Sumitomo preferred.
  • Proficiency using OTDR and Fluke DTX/DSX testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards and fiber loss calculations.
  • Experience building telecommunications closets, including racks, patch panels, grounding systems, and cable management.
  • Understanding of copper cabling installation and termination fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Scissor Lift certification preferred.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must provide basic hand tools and required personal protective equipment, including steel or composite toe boots and gloves.
  • Willingness to travel based on project requirements.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)
  • Current schedule is six 12‑hour shifts per week (Monday through Saturday), with plans to transition to six 10‑hour shifts as staffing increases.
  • Travel schedule consists of approximately four weeks onsite followed by a long weekend at home before returning to the project site.
  • Position requires travel to project locations as assigned.
