Robotics Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

Join a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing team where you will play a critical role in keeping advanced robotic and automated production equipment operating safely and efficiently.

The Robotics Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robotic cells, automated manufacturing systems, and supporting production equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys solving complex equipment problems, working with FANUC robots, and improving production reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robotic manufacturing systems and automated production equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, PLC, and control-system problems to minimize downtime.
  • Support FANUC robotic systems , including alarm troubleshooting, robot recovery, teach-pendant operation, and basic program adjustments.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic cells, welding systems, conveyors, fixtures, sensors, and related automation equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC logic, equipment drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Install, route, repair, and troubleshoot industrial wiring, motors, drives, servos, relays, sensors, safety devices, and control components.
  • Assist with equipment startups, system commissioning, automated-line improvements, and new product introduction activities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime and process reliability.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment repairs, replacement parts, and completed work.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, aerospace manufacturing, PPE, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience maintaining robotic, automated, or industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting FANUC robotic systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with robot alarms, recovery procedures, teach pendants, and basic robot programming.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills involving motors, drives, relays, sensors, servos, control panels, and industrial wiring.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing pneumatic and mechanical equipment problems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC logic, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and equipment reliability programs.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and respond quickly to production equipment issues.
  • Previous aerospace, defense, automotive, welding, or advanced manufacturing experience is a plus.
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree, trade-school training, or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • FANUC robotics, electrical, PLC, or industrial maintenance certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and work around industrial machinery for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and use of hand tools.
  • Ability to safely work around robotic cells, automated equipment, and active production areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and hearing protection.
