Probate Court Liaison - at Indian Rivers Behavioral Health Centreville, AL

Job Title and Summary

Probate Court Liaison – Clinician II, Diversion Team (Full‑Time, 40 hours/week). Located in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Work schedule:

Monday‑Thursday 7:30am–5:00pm;
Friday 8:00am–12:00pm.

• Establish professional relationships with probate courts, judges, assistant district attorneys, and court personnel.
• Serve as point of contact for mental health petitions (inpatient hospitalization, outpatient treatment orders, court reports, other court‑related actions).
• Track state hospital census and maintain a record‑keeping system of all court documents; forward copies to medical records.
• Schedule and screen individuals from the community, jail, and DCH to determine need for treatment/hospitalization.
• Defer placement in State Hospital when appropriate and evaluate/screen consumers’ mental status.
• Coordinate referrals to inter‑ or intra‑agency resources.
• Provide consultation and education to the general public, judges, physicians, and referral agencies.
• Arrange and provide in‑service training programs as needed.
• Participate in clinical and administrative record review procedures.
• Document services in a timely, clear, concise manner in compliance with IRBH policy.
• Transport consumers in a company vehicle or personal vehicle when no company vehicle is available; assure safe operation and report incidents.
• Provide outreach community services, including home visits, as required.
• Maintain confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and organizational security protocols.
• Complete at least 88 billable hours per month and update service notes daily in Avatar.
• Support team coverage after hours, weekends, and holidays as part of the ACT staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Respond to phone calls, emails, and other communications in a timely manner.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Supervisor or Executive Director.

• Master’s degree in behavioral sciences required.
• At least 2 years experience in a community mental health setting (preferred). Licensure in the discipline preferred.
• Current Alabama driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Competent computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office and intake/recording systems.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity to consumer needs.
• Good organizational and prioritization skills.
• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Work occurs in a general office environment and in the community; may involve long hours, travel, and occasional evening or weekend shifts.
