Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Job Overview

We are searching for a talented software engineer to join our Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development team. The candidate will work with a diverse group of software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to explore and develop solutions in support of AFRL, NASIC, DARPA and other Department of Defense and Intelligence Community projects. The role requires developing and integrating high‑fidelity models and software solutions into the existing AFSIM Modeling & Simulation framework using modern Agile practices.

The engineer will also expand  and related tools into AFSIM. We are looking for a full‑stack developer proficient in AFSIM who can adapt to a fast‑paced, high‑profile development effort.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

• Minimum of 3 years of M&S development experience
• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience
• Minimum of 2 years of C++ and Python3 experience
• Experience following agile development processes
• Experience using tools such as git, Bitbucket, Gitlab, Jenkins, Gitlab runners, or similar
• Experience developing software for Linux platforms

• Experience with a full technical stack, including backend framework development, network programming, CI/CD, scientific computing, regression test development, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience working with modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, and ITASE
• Experience with virtual machine and container management platforms such as WSL2 and Docker
• Experience with integrated development environments such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, PyCharm, or similar
• Familiarity with DoD security practices
