Job OverviewThe Parts Handler is responsible for performing day‑to‑day activities of the Production Yard or Warehouse in accordance with current federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing this facility. This position may be directed by the Production/Yard Leader to assure that the parts are handled in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.
EssentialJob Duties
- Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
- Find/Retrieve parts.
- Package parts for delivery or prep.
- Handle any paperwork involved with the parts.
- Pull work orders.
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from cars.
- Operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) or order picker.
- Pull and prep all sheet metal and other orders.
- Tag all parts properly for the destination.
- Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
- Display a positive and friendly attitude and appropriate behavior during work hours.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Not responsible for supervising employees.
Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED.
Preferred RequirementsA working knowledge of automotive parts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Perform basic math with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; draw and interpret graphs.
- Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, and other office software.
- Communicate orally and write brief messages; keep simple records.
- Apply routine instructions to solve typical problems.
- Make decisions that affect own job or functional area under broad guidance.
- Prioritize assigned and routine tasks.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and on occasion up to 100 pounds. Exposure to hazardous situations, conditions, equipment, cramped spaces, and high noise levels may occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn regularly. Extreme temperatures and occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
