Role DescriptionThe Plumbing Instructor is a full-time, on-site position located in Alabaster, AL. This role is responsible for planning and delivering daily instruction in plumbing fundamentals, including safety practices, tools and equipment, pipe systems, fixtures, codes, and basic design. The instructor will develop lesson plans, demonstrations, and hands‑on lab activities aligned with district and state career technical standards. Daily responsibilities include supervising students in classroom and lab settings, assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe, organized learning environment.
The Plumbing Instructor will collaborate with other educators and industry partners, support student work‑based learning opportunities, and participate in school and district professional development and meetings.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in plumbing, including installation, maintenance, repair, safety practices, and familiarity with applicable plumbing codes and regulations.
- Ability to plan and deliver clear, engaging instruction using a variety of teaching strategies, including demonstrations, hands‑on labs, and real‑world problem‑solving activities.
- Strong classroom and lab management skills, with a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for a diverse student population.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, colleagues, and community or industry partners.
- Relevant plumbing licensure or industry certification preferred; eligibility to obtain appropriate state teaching or career technical educator certification as required by the district.
- Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in a school, industry, or apprenticeship setting is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and learning technologies for lesson planning, grading, and student communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary training or apprenticeship completion in plumbing or a related trade is preferred.
