Job DescriptionNetwork Engineer
Qualifications: High school graduate and other advanced training. College degree preferred. Two or more years experience in network planning, installation and engineering, local and wide area networks with a minimum of 1000 nodes. MCSE required. Win 2003 preferred. Expertise in two or more of the following:
- SQL (Microsoft & Pervasive)
- MS Share Point
- MCDBA
- Cisco CCNA or CCNE
- Network Security
Ability to plan, direct and implement system advances. Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, telecommunications and others. Proficiency in desktop MS Windows operating systems and terminal services. Must have strong communication and listening skills and must be cooperative and easy to get along with. Demonstrated ability to work with people as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills, collaboration and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex concepts to the general public. Valid Alabama driver’s license and good driving record.
Reports to: Technology Coordinator
Job Goal: Support the use of technology for instruction, communication and administration system-wide. Design, installation, configuration and maintenance of computers and network systems, (LANs and WAN) to support the use of technology for instruction, communications and management in the school system.
Terms of Employment: 240 days.
