Position Title: Video Line Specialist

Department: Environmental Services / Collections Division

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade 19: $22.53 - $31.18 per hour

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist Sewer Video Supervisor in the operation and maintenance of video camera and sound equipment used in the inspection and location of damaged sanitary sewer lines. This includes lifting manhole covers and placing camera and crawler into the sewer or placing sound equipment over the sewer to inspect sewer lines.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance/repairs on pump station, sewer mains, and manholes.
  • Perform drain and sewer camera inspections; log results and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection by checking all vehicle fluids, tires, lights, filling the holding tank with water, checking the camera to ensure it works properly, taking inventory of supplies and making any minor repairs before driving to the job site.
  • Receive assignments and prepare for inspections by driving to job site and setting up equipment based on the job specifications.
  • Inspect sewer line by entering manholes and placing camera and crawler into the sewer, utilizing camera equipment to view the sewer line, and utilizing SLRAT equipment, and placing all equipment back onto truck at the completion of a job.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are followed while on work site by properly setting up the work site and wearing appropriate safety gear.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and tools are on truck (e.g., safety signs, flashlights, vests, cones, batteries, marker paints, gas and metal detectors, replacement wheels, etc.).
  • Ensure all vehicle fluids are checked such as oil, transmission antifreeze, and power steering so the truck is safe and ready to be operated.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on departmental equipment and tools (e.g., camera, truck, crawler, etc.).
  • Prepare for daily activities by meeting with supervisors to discuss work orders, assignments, staffing and equipment needs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment (camera or crawler) by using the bypass co-axe (jumper wire).
  • Assess the work site and follow instructions from supervisor on placement of camera truck over manhole.
  • Respond to citizen requests involving sewer problems.
  • Operate equipment and utilize a variety of hand and power tools; perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment; identify equipment maintenance needs.
  • Assist with regular monitoring of systems through reading gauges, graphs, meters and control panels.
  • Obtain estimates on materials and maintenance needs; make purchases as required.
  • Assist with maintaining City facilities including minor building/fencing repairs as required.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings; abide by safety protocols and help maintain a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair and operate all sewer lines and pump stations.
  • Maintain and repair motors, pumps and other equipment, service equipment and machinery as scheduled and/or necessary.
  • Install or replace equipment and machinery according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and equipment needed, complete purchase order requests for parts and supplies as needed, keep records of preventive maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Work as a team with other employees, managers, and department director.
  • Serve as a member of survey, construction, or inspection crews as needed.
  • Work with IT Department to upgrade and improve GIS maps.
  • Regular & predictable attendance is a required essential function of the position based on department established work schedule.
