Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.
As a Technician II, you are a respected technician trusted to work independently while performing major and minor repairs, diagnosing issues with road tests, completing maintenance tasks, and mentoring new technicians.
We recognize your skills and provide training on cutting‑edge technology. You will have the opportunity to grow with training and mentorship.
Schedule & LocationWork schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Work location:
185 Airpark Industrial Rd, Alabaster, AL 35007.
- Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
- Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
- Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, and more.
- Keeping your work area clean and safe.
- Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
- Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.
- Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

- Strong, well‑rounded training on a variety of OEM equipment (Penske’s Technician Certification Program certified as a Continuing Automotive Service Education provider).
- Advanced vehicle maintenance technology.

- 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
- Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training courses, ASE certification, and 608/609 certifications preferred.
- Experience using the tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Team‑player and willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Compliance with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, and Penske safety and maintenance policies (DOT, OSHA, PPE, machine guarding, etc.).
- Regular, predictable, full attendance.
- DOT‑regulated driving responsibilities; current driver qualification file, MVR checks, DOT physical, safety performance history, and drug screening requirements.
- Willingness to travel within the district, attend required schedule, and complete background and drug screening.
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and extended sitting during work periods.
- Routine use of hands for grasping, reaching, handling, and operating tools.
- Work safely at heights with ladders and elevated platforms.
- Work safely in all weather conditions.
- Ability to see and hear to navigate the work environment safely.
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); ability to push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs.
