Transportation​/Driver Supervisor

We are immediately hiring a Transportation / Driver Supervisor internally titled, Supervisor Dispatch in Alabaster, AL area for our Supply Chain Solutions division.

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN MANAGING DOT REGULATED DIVERS.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position supports a new business start-up operation. During the launch and stabilization phase, flexibility is essential, as business needs may require extended workdays of 10-12 hours and occasional schedule adjustments. As the operation matures and staffing levels stabilize, work schedules are expected to become more consistent.

Pay Type:

Exempt / Salary paid Twice Per Month. Annual Salary Pay: $66,000.00.

• Summary Responsible for the oversight for all driver owner/operator activities, including pick-up and delivery, port interaction, governmental regulations, customer service, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Essential Functions Perform active role in dispatching and tracking of port and store delivery and LTL drivers.
• Works directly with warehouse operations managers to facilitate an efficient and profitable flow of product.
• Overall responsibility for the efficient operation of the dispatch, customer service, brokerage and maintenance divisions of the transportation department.
• Efficient, timely and effective utilization and maintenance of assigned equipment.
• Maintain expected service outlined in customer service level agreements.
• Minimize driver turnover.
• Maximize revenue per truck, minimize deadhead and minimize turndowns.
• Minimize excess transportation and maintenance costs.
• Maintain proficiency in trends and technology applicable to respective transportation activities.
• Ensure maximum communication and coordination between the dispatch, drivers, brokers, customer service and maintenance functions and other company departments.
• Ensure that the needs of the customers are known, respond to them, and report problems to the Transportation Manager.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA and OSHA regulations.
• Follow and monitor port activity.

• Strong knowledge of trucking processes, technology, transportation, and supply chain management.
• Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
• Ability to assess problem, determine root cause, and work to resolution with a team.
• Self-starter: ability to work independently.
• Functional experience in warehousing, transportation, and supply chain management.
• Flexible work schedule some evening and weekend coverage required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook) advanced required.

• Two (2) years or more related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. required.
