Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs machinery and equipment used in the production of plastic conduits. This position requires strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other maintenance and production team members to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on various types of production machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with three-phase motors to restore equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshoot inputs and outputs of PLCs to identify and correct control system faults.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and identify potential issues before they develop into major problems.
  • Collaborate closely with other maintenance technicians and production staff to resolve equipment-related issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Follow established safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar maintenance role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with three-phase motors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot inputs and outputs of PLCs and perform basic PLC-related diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on production machinery.
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation related to equipment and systems.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance and production personnel.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician or Millwright.
  • Experience working with extrusion lines, pipe lines, or similar continuous manufacturing equipment.
  • Interest in ongoing skills development through training in PLCs and maintenance technologies.
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule that includes days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.

Work

Environment

The role is based primarily indoors, with approximately 90% of work performed inside a fenced manufacturing plant that operates extrusion lines and pipe lines. The facility is non-climate-controlled, but large fans provide airflow in warmer conditions and heaters are used during winter months. The position follows a three-week rotating schedule that repeats consistently:
