About The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to assist one of our clients on a contractual basis for 3 months. The ideal candidate will have the technical foundation of a strong accounting professional. This role is a senior technical contributor who ensures accurate accounting treatment for land development, construction, and capital projects, while supporting month‑end close, budgeting, lender reporting, and compliance requirements.
This role is well‑suited to an experienced accounting professional with strong development and project accounting experience who thrives in a growing, hands‑on environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the full cycle accounting function: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, job‑costing and consolidation
- Prepare, review and present timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) and interpret variances
- Develop and maintain budgeting and forecasting models, including rolling forecasts, scenario analysis, and long‑term financial planning
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, debt and covenant compliance; lead treasury management and banking relationships as required
- Assist with annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and tax advisors; manage tax planning, filings (corporate, HST/GST, payroll), and regulatory compliance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., system automation, better cost visibility, improved forecasting) to support the company’s growth strategy
- Work within the company’s accounting systems (e.g., Quick Books, Viewpoint Vista, or similar), ensuring accurate and timely data entry
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA CA or CPA CG) is considered an asset but not required
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience; previous experience as a senior accounting leader in a service‑oriented business (preferably construction, real estate or property management) strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of job‑costing, project accounting, service contracts and service revenue recognition
- This is an on‑site role located in Woodstock, ON
- Hourly pay — $37.00 to $45.00 per hour based on experience
- Potential to convert into a permanent role
