Position: Director Staff Development Assistant - Alameda

Summary

The primary purpose of the DSD Assistant position is to assist the Director of Staff Development, and ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility nursing department to meet the needsof the residents based on budget, census, and as may be directed by facility administration. As a DSD Assistant you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Duties
  • Prepare monthly work schedules for nursing department, maintain current and accurate "as worked" schedule.
  • Prepare and post daily assignment sheets
  • Reconcile daily as worked schedule with payroll department
  • Complete state required staffing reports daily
  • Maintain and submit daily staffing reports as required by company policy
  • Coordinate available staffing to ensure open positions and/or call offs are filled by other available employees
  • Answer employee calls regarding staffing/scheduling functions.
  • Answer applicant calls regarding position availability and coordinate interviews asdeemed appropriate.
  • Consult with nursing department staff and supervisors concerning the staffing/scheduling needs: to assist in elimination/correction of problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
  • Assist in record keeping and documentation of attendance and tardiness for employee performance appraisals.
Qualifications
  • CA Certified Nursing Assistant license required; a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actionand deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Willing to seek out new methods and principles and open to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must pass a drug screening
  • Available for shared on-call support on evenings and weekends
  • Occasional after hour support of client and recruiting events.
