PositionSummary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful execution of a $50 million occupied-campus high school modernization project. This highly visible project will involve extensive renovation, phased construction, infrastructure upgrades, and stakeholder coordination within an active educational environment.
The Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery, including client management, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor oversight, procurement, risk management, and project team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess strong public-sector construction experience, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record managing large-scale K-12 modernization projects.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Client Management- Serve as the primary point of contact for owner representatives, architects, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Foster strong client relationships and maintain consistent communication throughout all phases of construction.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates on schedule, budget, risks, and project progress.
- Ensure alignment between owner expectations and project execution strategies.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Manage project financial performance, including buyout, change orders, contingency tracking, and cash flow projections.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices, owner billings, and monthly financial reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
- Oversee development and maintenance of the master project schedule.
- Coordinate procurement and long-lead material tracking.
- Monitor construction progress and proactively mitigate schedule impacts.
- Manage phased construction activities to minimize disruption to campus operations and student activities.
- Ensure project milestones and turnover requirements are achieved.
- Administer owner and subcontract agreements.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, potential claims, and contract compliance.
- Collaborate with field leadership to resolve project challenges efficiently.
- Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with company and client standards.
- Lead and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and field staff.
- Promote collaboration between office and field teams.
- Support employee development and create opportunities for team growth and advancement.
- Maintain accountability for project performance and team success.
- Champion safety culture and ensure adherence to all company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with field leadership to maintain exceptional quality standards.
- Conduct regular project reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure successful completion of inspections, commissioning activities, and project closeout.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
- Experience managing K-12, higher education, public works, or occupied-campus modernization projects strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing projects valued at $20M+.
- Strong understanding of California public works contracting requirements.
- Experience with DSA-regulated projects preferred.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling software.
- Excellent organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
