Recreation Specialist II: $21.99 - $29.47
“Recreation Specialist Instructor” plan, organize and conduct a class for kindergarten through high school. Positions are available for school-year programs for youth and teens and summer camps. Class subjects may include science (STEM), writing, reading, sports program, arts and crafts, cooking, dance, drama, history, early development and etc.
The Alameda Recreation and Park Department's goal is to provide programs which offer youth opportunities for the enrichment, learning and creative use of leisure time. Hours may vary depending on the position and responsibilities.

The mission of the Alameda Recreation and Park Department is to provide programs to the community with trained staff. A wide variety of social, physical and educational opportunities are offered for personal enrichment through wholesome and creative use of leisure time.
Standards and Qualifications- Education
:
Minimum Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. - Experience
:
Minimum of two years of professional teaching experience, preferably four or more years. - Behavior
:
Staff are expected to always be respectful of others and maintain a friendly, courteous and professional attitude. - Appearance
:
Depending on the assignment, staff must wear either professional business attire or a department uniform that includes a staff shirt and name badge. Uniforms are provided. Staff must maintain facilities and help keep them neat and clean. - Work Quality
:
Staff are expected to perform quality work and to plan effectively and efficiently. - Flexibility
:
Staff work hours vary due to Department needs (evenings, weekends and holidays depend on class schedule). - All positions require current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR and a recent T.B. Test prior to the beginning of the program or agreement to obtain both as a condition of hire. Must be 18 years or older.

Fingerprinting Requirement: California State Law requires that all recreation employees and volunteers having direct contact, supervisory or disciplinary authority over minors be fingerprinted as a condition of employment. Candidates given a conditional offer of employment will be referred for fingerprinting. Employment is conditioned upon fingerprint results.
Part-time positions with the City of Alameda may be eligible for limited benefits and are considered at-will. Work schedules vary but may not exceed 28 hours per week.
E-VERIFY: The City of Alameda utilizes the Federal government s E-Verify program and new employees must provide documentation to establish both identity and work authorization, which includes showing a valid United States Social Security card at the time of hire.
