Paraprofessional (Full-Time, TK-8th)
RCM Health Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support a diverse group of TK–8 students in an engaging, student-centered school environment. This full-time position involves working closely with teachers and education specialists to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students, particularly those with diverse learning needs.
Reporting to the School Leader and under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated employee, the Para educator will assist by performing a variety of academic and behavior support duties for individual students and small groups within special education classrooms, general education classrooms, and other school settings. These duties are designed to complement the instructional program and maximize learning opportunities for students in a variety of educational settings.
The Para educator will also assist in the implementation of classroom and school-wide behavioral supports and help students access all aspects of the educational environment both at school and within the community.
- Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with autism and/or behavioral challenges preferred.
- Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units or equivalent trimester units); OR
- Associate degree or higher; OR
- Successful completion of the CBEST or a local assessment demonstrating knowledge and skills in assisting instruction.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred.
- Candidates who do not currently possess an RBT certification will receive support in obtaining certification after hire.
- Under the direction of the Education Specialist, work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activities in academic, language, and specialized subject areas.
- Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans utilizing approved positive reinforcement strategies, behavior modification techniques, and other evidence-based supports.
- Facilitate positive social interactions and support the development of relationships between students with disabilities and their peers.
- Model appropriate behaviors and attitudes while providing emotional support and general guidance to students.
- Support student participation during field trips, assemblies, and school productions.
- Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students in alternate testing environments and extended-time settings.
- Monitor and document student progress through observations, daily interactions, and accurate record keeping.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, positive, and productive learning environment.
- Support physically disabled students with personal care needs, including toileting, diapering, eating, dressing, grooming, and other self-help skills.
- Report suspected health concerns to appropriate school personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom information in compliance with legal requirements.
- Support instructional continuity during temporary absences of the Education Specialist.
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and Student Study Team meetings as required.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance during scheduled school hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to lift, assist, and support students as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods throughout the school day.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations and support student safety.
- Competitive hourly pay of $27-$29 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
