Job Description: Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC Company, has an immediate opening for a licensed Project or Senior Project Environmental Engineer or Geologist to assist in the management and growth of our environmental practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate will need to have experience with conducting and managing environmental investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, project scheduling, staff mentoring, budget control, and meeting and interacting with clients and regulatory agencies, including the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Toxic and Substances Control, the Regional Water Quality Control Board and all local Environmental Health agencies.
The candidate will also coordinate, participate in, and oversee staff field activities, including logging of borings, test pits, trenches and cores; evaluating geologic and hydrogeological conditions; and sampling soil, soil gas, and groundwater; and will prepare environmental proposals and reports. Duties for this position also include providing technical support to staff-level engineers, geologists, and field technicians.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Certification: California PE or PG licensure REQUIRED;
Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER training required. Other certifications and registrations a plus. Stormwater QSD certification strongly preferred.
Required skills: 10+ years of experience performing most or all of the tasks listed above (at least 5 years of project management experience). Candidate must also have solid base writing skills, effective inter-communication skills, and ability to work with and support teams as well as ability to work independently when required. Also must have proficiency with Word and Excel. Candidates should have additional experience in managing projects and budgets, manage clients and client relationships, oversee subcontractors and project staff, mentor junior staff, and preparation of technical proposals and report deliverables.
The ideal candidate will bring local experience and familiarity with the geologic and engineering practice and a strong knowledge of state and federal regulations. The candidate should be a team player, be detail oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with construction activities is also desired.
