Materials Engineer; Woodstock

Job Summary

The materials engineer will create, optimize and monitor concrete mix designs for a variety of structural and architectural precast concrete products. This position is responsible for working collaboratively to guide and support various departments including quality control, engineering, production and field operations. The materials engineer will be detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate must be a problem solver with hands‑on leadership skills who thrives in a rapid‑paced multi‑project environment.

• Design, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize high performance concrete mixes for precast plants including specialty mixes for structural and architectural precast concrete wall panels
• Support with mix design and troubleshooting for ready mix products
• Pre-bid review of project specifications
• Planning and coordinating field/plant and laboratory testing of construction materials
• Develop repair procedures for defective product which permanently restores appearance, durability and structural capacity
• Conduct job functions as needed between plant and field working environments

• Minimum of five years of practical engineering experience within a relevant field, preferably focusing on concrete mix‑designs
• Civil Engineering Degree in concrete materials engineering
• Knowledge of CSA, ASTM and MTO Standards
• Relevant concrete testing certifications such as ACI FT Level 1 and ACI‑SCC would be considered strong assets
• Willingness to travel between plants as well as to project construction sites as required
• Must be adaptable to overtime where required to meet project / production deadlines
• Ability to work with salaried and hourly workforce in a plant environment

Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually.
